Just over 2 years ago a group of 20 scientists and their families found themselves tranferred to Novelis's Central European Laboratories from England following a series of mergers. While the group had a wide range of German language skills the general level was low and in most cases non-existant. Today that has improved considerably thanks to BLSS. Its difficult enough to move job, house and culture at the same time and work itself has to take first call when it comes to setting priorities, so it was necessary to break the numbers down into manageable groups of like skills and then take advantage of BLSS's flexible working practice to arrange lessons to fit in with other diary commitments. Lessons take part in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere and topics range from relatively simple lifestyle requirements to business needs. Speaking for myself I just gave my first lecture in German; still plenty of room for improvement but the progress is tangible and my German colleagues really appreciated the effort. Its a pleasure for me to be able to endorse BLSS on their website as a thankyou for their efforts; I recommend them to anyone in the same situation.
